Nick Records (also known as Nickelodeon Records or Nick Music) is a soundtrack arm formed to expand Nickelodeon's presence in the music business and create a major music brand for kids and preteens. Its former logo features a button trio consisting of stop, pause and play. This group identifies and showcases new and emerging young musical artists, up-and-coming talent from the network, and produces soundtrack and compilations based on Nickelodeon TV shows.
A primary focus of the label is filling a void in the preteen (9-14 year olds) entertainment marketplace by producing music compilations from contemporary artists, original music and performances by popular Nick stars, as well as, talent from Nickelodeon's digital teen network, The N. In addition, the label has established itself in the preschool market, with current releases from Dora the Explorer, The Backyardigans, LazyTown and Go, Diego, Go! filling the children’s charts.
SpongeBob SquarePants Original Theme Highlights, released August 2001, has been certified a GOLD single, by the RIAA Recording Industry Association of America. Dora the Explorer is quickly approaching Gold Album status. Big Time Rush's Debut Album B.T.R Released in 2010 was certified Gold in 6 Months and Eventually Sold over 1 Million Copies Worldwide and is the best Selling album of all time by a Nickelodeon Artist ever. they are also the most Successful Nickelodeon Act of All Time as Well.
